About Wild Muse Arts
Wild Muse Arts is a performance initiative that brings ecologically themed classical music programs to botanical, agricultural, and community spaces. Founded by pianist and educator Kathryn Felt, the series presents flagship performances in a historic barn at Faraway Farm Alpacas in Yorktown Heights, NY. Its inaugural 2026 season, Seed | Bloom | Flight, explores themes of growth and ecological cycles, featuring program artwork by visual artist Antonietta Positano and a commissioned chamber work (The Trees Speak) by Angelique Mouyis.
Fiscally sponsored by the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA), Wild Muse Arts is a recipient of a 2026 New York Women Composers Seed Money Grant and has received support from the American Musicological Society. To support educational and community outreach, Wild Muse Arts partners with Music Matters Lab, Statement Arts’ StART Access program, and Riverdale Art for AID.

Featuring Mélanie Bonis’s Femmes de Légende, a suite of portraits depicting mythological and literary women whose stories connect deeply with the natural world.
Sofia Gubaidulina | Sounds of the Forest, an atmospheric meditation on the natural world.
Carl Reinecke | Undine Sonata, which tells the story of the water-spirit Undine.
Yuko Uebayashi | Flute Sonata, a contemporary work inspired by the composer's deep relationship with nature.

Seed explores the themes of beginnings and emergence: the unfolding of musical ideas, the first burst of life, and our relationship with nature in an age of climate uncertainty.

Programming Philosophy
Wild Muse Arts brings together distinguished classical musicians trained at top conservatories for ecologically themed programs.
To guide our curation, our programming draws on specific ecological themes:
Elements & Natural Forces:
Works inspired by earth, water, storms, forests, and sky—from canonic works to contemporary reflections on the environment.
Climate Change & the Anthropocene:
Music responding to the urgency of our times, exploring the crisis of rising seas, shifting seasons, and fragile ecosystems.
Women & Underrepresented Voices
Centering composers historically overlooked through an ecological lens.
Technical Requirements
One well-maintained acoustic grand piano (tuned to A=440 on the day of the performance).
One adjustable piano bench and armless chairs
Optional: A microphone (lapel or wireless handheld) on a stand for speaking/lecture portions.
Two sturdy music stands (for violin/cello or flute).
Natural acoustics are sufficient and preferred for most performance spaces. If the venue size or layout requires sound reinforcement, we request that all instruments be amplified collectively to maintain a natural, balanced chamber music blend.
